Free and Open-Source Softwares
For over a quarter of a century, from time to time, my tasks and projects has been based on digital technologies, and by trying and using some light and stable alternatives to the (already) heavy and classic office work or audiovisual editing programs, I quickly discovered the concept of open codes and participative softwares, with the Free and Open-Source Softwares.
Ethical and moral constraints, a concern for diversity, accessibility, compatibility, and above all a need for autonomy, led me to use only those softwares and permanently switch to a Linux OS. Tools which represents also communities where I contribute from time to time...
Here are some of the FOSS I use:
- Thunderbird as e-mail client and organizer.
- LibreOffice for daily production documents and data processing.
- Scribus for layouting manuals and publications.
- GIMP for bitmap image editing.
- Inkscape for vector graphics editing.
- ocenaudio for audio editing.
- Ardour for audio mixing.
- Kdenlive for video editing.
- Geany for code editing.
- and much more, adapted to specific tasks...
